FDLE Concludes Investigative Activity in Shooting Incident

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has concluded investigative activity for a July 4 shooting incident that resulted in the death of Kevin Ryan Fuder, 30, of Bay County, Fla.

On July 4, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to a trespassing call at 13830 County Line Road. Fuder died at the scene following an exchange of gunfire between the subject and responding law enforcement personnel. FDLE was asked by the BCSO to conduct an independent investigation of the shooting. FDLE conducted interviews with the individuals involved with the incident and forensic personnel processed the scene.

On July 5, the District 14 Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy. Preliminary autopsy results state that Fuder’s death is the result of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

FDLE provided the 14th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office (SAO) with the Medical Examiner’s preliminary findings and FDLE’s preliminary investigative findings. The SAO reviewed the information and determined that no further investigative action is required due to the fact that Fuder’s death was a suicide and not the result of actions by any law enforcement personnel.

FDLE is in the process of finalizing reports and will make those documents available in the coming weeks.
