Plant City Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Computer Crime Center today arrested Steven Steigerwaldt, 46, of Plant City, and charged him with 30 counts of possession of child pornography.

Steigerwaldt became a suspect during an undercover FBI investigation into a Web site offering child pornography videos for sale. After learning that Steigerwaldt was one of the Web site’s customers, FDLE, as part of FBI’s Tampa Division Innocent Images Task Force, became involved.

A search warrant was executed at Steigerwaldt’s home and a full forensic review of his computer revealed that his computer was used to access and view images of child pornography while online.

FDLE is an active member of the three Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces in Florida. There are 59 federally-funded task forces nationwide created solely to investigate Internet crimes against children that include the online sexual exploitation of children and child pornography.
