Robbery Suspect Arrested in Brevard County

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Rockledge Police Department, Palm Bay Police Department, Titusville Police Department and the Orlando Police Department announce the arrest yesterday of Jaime William Gordon, 30, a transient. Gordon was wanted for 10 armed bank robberies that were committed in Brevard, Seminole, Volusia Indian River, and Orange County counties as well as in Mississippi.

Authorities allege Gordon would enter each bank, indicate to the customer service representatives that he possessed a firearm, and demand that the tellers provide him with money. Gordon committed the robberies beginning Feb. 15 and hit banks in Biloxi, Miss., Hattiesburg, Miss., Rockledge, Daytona Beach, Vero Beach, Sanford, Palm Bay, Titusville, and most recently, he is believed to have committed two robberies yesterday in Orlando.

As a result of the robberies, a multi-agency task force was created to focus investigative efforts. The various agencies worked to identify the subject and worked in concert with the Central Florida Intelligence Exchange (C.F.I.X.) to disseminate intelligence bulletins and photos of the suspect.

Tuesday afternoon, while on routine patrol, a Brevard County Sheriff's Office Deputy recognized the suspect on Merritt Island. After attempting to elude authorities, Gordon was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Tennessee.

Gordon was transported to the Brevard County Jail with no bond. Gordon will be transported to the custody of the United States Marshal Service today and will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office on the robbery charges.

A press conference regarding the robbery investigations and arrest of Gordon will be held on today at 10 a.m. at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office East Precinct. For more information please contact Resident Agent in Charge (RAC) Robert “Wayne” Ivey at (772) 216-3529.
