Madison County Physician Arrested on Multiple Drug Counts

A Madison County physician was arrested today by Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) special agents for improperly obtaining and using prescription pain and sleep medication.

Dr. Michael Stick was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, three counts of obtaining possession of a controlled substance by fraud and six counts of practicing a health care profession without a license. All charges are third-degree felonies.

The FDLE investigation began Sept. 1 and revealed that Dr. Stick obtained 1,500 Hydrocodone pills and more than 600 Ambien pills over a two-year period and used the pills to self medicate.

Dr. Stick was booked into the Madison County Jail.

The investigation was conducted by the Madison County Sheriff's Office, Florida Department of Health, Drug Enforcement Administration and FDLE.
