DOC and FDLE Arrest Correctional Officer for Sexual Battery

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Department of Corrections' Inspector General's Office (DOC) today arrested Geno Lewis Hawkins, 43, a correctional officer, for sexual battery.

The investigation began when DOC alerted FDLE to the possibility that Hawkins was involved in a sexual relationship with a Gadsden Correctional Facility inmate. FDLE and DOC began the joint investigation in Aug. 2008.

Hawkins, an employee of Corrections Corporation of America, was arrested at his home without incident and charged with one count of sexual battery. He was booked into the Leon County Jail without bond and faces a maximum 30 year prison sentence.
