Former Deputy Charged with Sexual MisconductFormer Deputy Charged with Sexual Misconduct

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in conjunction with the Calhoun County and Liberty County Sheriff’s Offices arrested former Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputy William “Billy” Strawn, 42, following an investigation into allegations that he engaged in sexual misconduct with two female inmates who were under his direct control. Strawn is charged with two counts of sexual misconduct between detention facility employees and inmates, a third-degree felony.

FDLE began investigating Strawn after receiving complaints alleging Strawn had sexual relations with Calhoun County inmates housed in the Liberty County Jail. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office requested FDLE to take the lead in the investigation.

These charges are separate from the Calhoun County investigation alleging Strawn bribed and propositioned an inmate for sex in exchange for special treatment of the inmate’s incarcerated husband.

Strawn worked for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office for seven years. Strawn was booked in the Calhoun County Jail.
