Second Man Arrested in St. Lucie County Bribery Investigation

In January 2006, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Melbourne Field Office initiated a criminal investigation into allegations of official misconduct against St. Lucie County Building Official Dennis Grim. As a result of the investigation, Grim was subsequently arrested for bribery and other related violations. In March 2008 Grim was convicted by a St. Lucie County jury of the bribery charges that were the result of his criminal activity while employed with St. Lucie County.

During the investigation FDLE discovered evidence that Grim had received free window shutters for his residence that were provided and installed at the direction of Senior Project Manager Alex Feldman, 56, of Prime Home Builders. In return for the gratuity Grim would overlook building problems, hurry the processing of permits, and agree to various liberties that involved the Portofino Shores building development. During the course of the investigation FDLE was provided documentation by Grim that showed payment for the shutters and their installation. FDLE agents determined that the documentation had been fraudulently created by Grim and Feldman in an effort to cover-up the activity.

Yesterday, Alex Feldman was arrested by FDLE and members of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office for bribery. Feldman was transported to the St. Lucie County Jail on a $50,000bond.
