Agents Arrest Avon Park Man for Possession of Child Pornography

7/10/2008

Yesterday, agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Sebring Field Office arrested Morris Ray Lawson, 59, of Avon Park , Fla. and charged him with 18 counts of possession of child pornography. Each count is punishable by up to five years in prison. More charges may follow after a full forensic review of Lawson’s computer.

FDLE agents were led to Lawson through a tip from a local citizen who discovered the child pornography while working on Lawson’s computer. FDLE Special Agents reviewed the contents from the computer’s hard drive and discovered numerous elicit photographs depicting children performing sex acts and children being sexually displayed. Special Agents located and arrested Lawson without incident. He was booked into the Highlands County jail on a $91,000 bond. The case is being prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office 10th Judicial Circuit.
