South Fort Myers Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement announces the arrest of a South Fort Myers man accused of possessing child pornography. Following an 11-month investigation, FDLE special agents took Robert Zapiec, 36, into custody Thursday afternoon and charged him with three counts of possession of child pornography.

In March 2007, FDLE special agents received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Gainesville Police Department that a computer in the Fort Myers area was being used to upload child pornography to a specific Web site. FDLE special agents served a search warrant at 8519 Manderston Court in the Cross Creek subdivision, Zapiec’s home, in April 2007. During the search several computers were confiscated. Agents say one of the computers, owned by Zapiec, contained child pornography.

Possession of child pornography is a third-degree felony. Zapiec was booked into the Lee County Jail.
