FDLE and SecureFlorida Launch Operation WebLock

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and proudly announce the launch of Operation WebLock.

Operation WebLock is a FREE two-day seminar designed for the IT professionals, system administrators, or anyone else who assists in managing networks of any size and is aimed at creating a stronger cyber infrastructure throughout Florida. Topics discussed will include incident response, combating anti-forensics, and coping with disasters.

Seminar sessions will feature expert presenters from Verizon, CyberTrust (now a division of Verizon), the FBI, and FDLE. The seminars culminate in a simulated real-life tabletop exercise conducted by trainers from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

"It's important for us to protect our electronic resources as efficiently as we protect our physical assets," said FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey. "With technology growing and changing on a daily basis, it is important that we learn how to protect ourselves from any kind of cyber attack."

"Operation Weblock presented in October also coincides with National Security Awareness Month," said Mike Russo, Chief Information Security Officer for the Agency for Enterprise Information Technology. "This is a great way to raise cyber security awareness within the state. I encourage all information technology professionals to take advantage of this opportunity."

In addition to this impressive line-up, renowned author and journalist, Dan Verton will serve as keynote speaker for the event. Verton will also present a breakout session on cyber-terrorism.

Operation WebLock is being held at four venues throughout Florida in October. While the event is free to all who attend, pre-registration is required, as seating is limited. Operation WebLock will be held in the following cities:
