FDLE offers a structured Internship Program to college seniors and graduate students who are enrolled in school during the semester of potential internship and are not on any type of academic probation/warning. The internship must be to earn college credit. FDLE requires all interns to successfully pass a drug screen and thorough background investigation, which includes criminal history, driver license record, employment history, personal references, and financial credit checks.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Priorities

FDLE is composed of five areas: Executive Direction and Business Support, Criminal Investigations and Forensic Science, Criminal Justice Information, Criminal Justice Professionalism and Florida Capitol Police. FDLE’s duties, responsibilities and procedures are mandated through Chapter 943, FS, and Chapter 11, FAC.
