Criminal Justice Information Services (full-time 40 hours per week)

The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) is the central repository of criminal history records for the state of Florida. CJIS serves a wide variety of information needs within the criminal justice community and for the citizens of Florida. CJIS is responsible for maintaining the state's criminal history files; providing criminal history record check services; managing the Florida Crime Information Center; compiling Florida Uniform Crime Report statistics; and ensuring the integrity of data disseminated to criminal justice agencies. These services help identify persons with criminal warrants, arrests, and convictions that impact employment, licensing, firearm purchasing eligibility, as well as a variety of other criminal justice functions.

Internship Responsibilities

Interns are involved in the creation and maintenance of the Computerized Criminal History system. They are tasked with reviewing, researching, retrieving, and updating missing segments of the criminal history through contact with local law enforcement agencies and clerks of court. Interns will also work on special research projects as assigned by their supervisor.
