Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Precipitous Increase in Crime Program (Emergency Funds)

Program Overview:
FDLE is anticipating an award from the Department of Justice (DOJ) for Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Precipitous Increase in Crime funding.  These funds will be used to support local and state law enforcement agencies involved in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

This funding opportunity is soliciting notifications of intent to apply from eligible agencies that anticipate submitting requests for reimbursement of costs incurred as a result of this incident.

Prison Rape Elimination Act Program (PREA)

Program Overview:
The goal of the PREA Program is to assist efforts to establish “zero tolerance” cultures related to sexual abuse and harassment in confinement facilities, including jails, police lockups, prisons, juvenile facilities, and community confinement facilities.

Residental Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners (RSAT)

Program Overview:
RSAT allows state and county detention facilities to re-examine the manner in which they provide substance abuse treatment to both males and females who are in correctional custody.  RSAT funds may be used to implement three types of evidence-based drug treatment programs within state and local correctional and detention facilities: 1) Residential, 2) Jail-based treatment, or 3) Aftercare.

Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Countywide (JAGC)

Notice: FDLE is currently pending receipt of the FY17 state JAG award. Information for this JAGC process is provided for planning purposes in anticipation of the FY17 subgrant solicitation coming soon.

Description:
JAG funds may be used to provide additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance, and information systems for criminal justice, for broad deployment and adoption activities related to the improvement of criminal justice for any one or more of eight federally identified purpose areas.

Eligibility:
This solicitation will be open to units of local government in Florida. Applicants must meet additional eligibility requirements in the solicitiation. For this program, “units of local government” is defined as any city, county, town, township, borough, parish, village, or other general-purpose political subdivision of the State of Florida and includes Native American Tribes that perform law enforcement functions as determined by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior.
