Burglary

UCR Definition


The Florida Uniform Crime Reports program defines burglary as the unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or a theft.  Attempted forcible entry is included.

The UCR Manual contains more information about these definitions.  Burglary from a conveyance or within the curtilage is counted as Larceny by UCR definition.

Summary


Florida had 88,778 UCR burglary offenses reported in 2017.  

There were a total of 16,463 arrests for burglary reported to the Florida UCR program. Of these arrests 4,059 were juveniles and 12,404 were adults.

2017 burglary offenses residence v. non-residence and time of day.  31,411 residential burglaries during the day.  14,804 residential burglaries at night.  16,837 residential burglaries at unknown time. 6,714 non-residential burglaries during the day.  11,735 non-residential burglaries at night.  7,277 non-residential burglaries at unknown time.
