Elder Abuse Investigations

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has developed this online course entitled “Elder Abuse Investigations” that can be taken via this website. The successful completion of this course will satisfy the mandatory training requirement of §943.17926, Florida Statutes and Rule 11B-27.00212 (15), Florida Administrative Code.

The statute mandates that all law enforcement officers complete one-time training on identifying and investigating elder abuse and neglect.

Certified officers may be awarded one hour of training that can be applied toward the 40 hour mandatory retraining requirement.

Pursuant to Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission Technical Memorandum 2008-08, an officer who completes, or has completed, any of the programs or courses listed below at a Commission-certified training school, regardless of when the course was taken, will have met the requirement for Elder Abuse Investigations training.

  7. CMS Law Enforcement Auxiliary Officer Program number 1180
  8. Crimes Against the Elderly advanced training course number 100.
Important message: You must print the quiz results page upon completion of this training course. Please ensure you are connected to a printer prior to beginning the online training course, as we are unable to track or store your information.

Once you have completed this online course, print, sign, and date the quiz results page. You can then turn your quiz results page in to the person designated by your agency to enter records into the Automated Training Management System (ATMS) and a certificate can be provided to you by that designee.
