Suspicious Activity Reporting

On May 5, 2011, FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey announced the completion of a Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) “roll-call” video training for sworn officers.  The training was developed by FDLE, the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Network (LEAPS).  The training is free to all sworn officers for the next year.

The training is in response to the National SAR Initiative and can be accessed via the link from the FDLE website or directly at www.leaps.tv/:

-          First, select the “Sheriff and Police Channel”

-          Then select the “Suspicious Activity Reporting Line Officer Series (FDLE Briefing)”.

The training consists of a video on the National SAR Initiative and how SARs are handled in Florida.  The 20-minute training provides officers guidance in detecting and reporting suspicious behaviors inherent to pre-operational planning by terrorists.

Please note that at the end of the video, the LEAPS.TV system automatically offers to provide training certificates, for a fee, to the officers who completed the training.  There is no requirement, or available funding, to purchase the training certificates.
