FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey’s Response to Governor Rick Scott’s Budget Release
Dec 07, 2011
The following is a statement from Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey regarding Governor Rick Scott’s budget recommendations.
“Governor Scott’s recommendation to continue enhancement of the DNA database demonstrates his commitment to public safety in our state. The Legislature recently authorized FDLE to expand collections beyond convictions to include DNA for felony arrests. In July, the Department began accepting DNA for felons arrested for homicide, assaults, sexual battery and lewd and indecent exposure. This funding will allow expansion to those arrested for other serious crimes. I consider this an investment into Florida's future.”
