The Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Grant Acts of 1998 were signed as law (Public Law 105-181 and 2000 Public Law 106-517). The purpose of the Act is to save the lives of law enforcement officers by helping States and units of local government and tribal governments equip their law enforcement officers with armor vests.
The Bulletproof Vest Partnership has developed a web site to assist the States (includes the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, United States Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands), units of local government, and Indian tribes, in obtaining these vests by using an electronic application for funding and request for payment process. The entire process of obtaining funds is completed through the federal web site referred to under the eligibility segment of this site.
