Special Agent (FDLE, Protective Operations Section) Requirements
(Note: This application is specifically for Protective Operations Unit located in Tallahassee, Florida.)

  • Must Have Completed One of the Following:

    Completed a Florida Law Enforcement Academy and received a passing score on the State of Florida Law Enforcement Certification Examination, and eligible to receive law enforcement certification.

    Completed the Florida Equivalency of Training (CJSTC 76) and received a passing score on the State of Florida Law Enforcement Certification Examination, and eligible to receive law enforcement certification.   • Four years of sworn law enforcement experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminology/criminal justice, accounting, finance, computer science or related fields. (Note: Preference may be given to applicants who possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, have sworn investigative, protective operations or SWAT experience.)
  • U.S. Citizen
  • High School Graduate / G.E.D.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Good Moral Character

Employment Process
NOTE: When a vacancy occurs for the special agent position that has been advertised, the duration of the employment process could take approximately two to six months once an application is received. This position requires shift work, working on holidays and weekends and requires extensive travel and a three year minimum assignment.
