Capitol Police

In Memory of our beloved Director
Our FDLE family has suffered a great loss.  Capitol Police Director Chris Connell unexpectedly passed away recently.
In his time with us Chris exemplified the kind, fair and measured professionalism that defines a true officer of the peace. He was a mentor to many, friend to all and a staunch guardian of the peace.  While Director Connell’s passing brings us immense grief, we are comforted in knowing that he has impacted and changed so many lives with his service and character.
Chris Connell - DirectorDirector Chris Connell

Before Chris joined the FDLE family in 2014, he retired as a distinguished Command Staff member of the Tallahassee Police Department. The community of Tallahassee benefited from the protective watch of Chris for many years, putting his life on the line innumerable times while in uniform and as SWAT member and team leader.
Chris was known for his work ethic and integrity. He was a steadfast public servant holding himself and his members accountable while being supportive and loyal to them and his oath of office.
He oversaw the activities of Capitol Police staff that provide law enforcement services and security for public officials, employees and visitors to the Capitol Complex, the Capitol Circle Office Center and the State Emergency Operations Center.
He was a mentor and friend to so many in our law enforcement family, the epitome of professionalism, strength and devotion to duty.
May God bless all those for whom Chris Connell was family, whether through blood, marriage or the nobility of police service, and bring all of us comfort and peace.
Sail on Chris. We will take over the watch from here.
